Lollapa. July 31 -- Not all of the artists featured at Lollapalooza 2007 are musicians. From August 3–5, Lollapalooza and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago are proud to present Who Art Thou?, an exhibition of works showcasing the talents of some of the premier art students in America, exhibiting as part of the Lollapalooza festival, held in Chicago’s Grant Park. Who Art Thou? showcases Lollapalooza’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the art and culture of its host city, Chicago.
Curated by SAIC alumna Vanessa Smith, 150 entries were narrowed to a final 44 selections determined by Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell and Ben Blocker, Sr. Creative at C3 Presents, the festival producer. “It’s been pretty exciting to be a part of this process,” Smith says. “This is a really cool opportunity for students to get their work out there.” SAIC director of exhibitions Trevor Martin concurs. “This is a great moment for student artists to share their works with a large audience, and to take part in the celebratory nature of the festival.”
